Today the world lost a hero and a true leader. Nelson Mandela died at the age of 95.
"I
have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all
persons will live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It
is an ideal for which I hope to live for. But my Lord, if it need be, it
is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."
-Nelson Mandela
I've
been spending the past few hours learning even more about this amazing
man's life than I had already known; soaking up the inspiration that this man
was and will continue to be not only to South Africa, but to the world.
Mandela's
strength, courage, persistence and the intuitive way he stood up for what he knew in his heart was the right thing for humanity
was truly extraordinary. I feel sad, but I somehow also feel inspired to do better. After 27 years in prison this man left his bitterness and hatred where it belonged and went on to continue to change the world with his belief in justice and equality-without victimizing himself. May he rest in peace. And may
his legacy live forever and motivate us to be better and do better.
